fishing with daddy

if you know steve at all, you know how OBSESSED he is with fly fishing. so you can imagine how insanely happy he was when we found out we were moving to alaska last winter. well, he really wants to pass this "interest" down to brynn so we decided to do a little fishing on base on labor day as she has been bugging him to take her. i was perfectly content parking my fatness on a log while he showed her how to cast, wind the reel up, pull the hooks out of the fish, and push the fish away with a stick. brynn enjoyed the last part the best and left a few fish with some nice battle wounds...
elmendorf afb is absolutely beautiful towards the back as its filled with lakes, rivers, and areas to camp. you don't even realize you are on an air force base as its so serene and quiet. so it was nice to hit a few little lakes with brynn as we knew it wouldn't be crowded with people and its only 20 minutes from our house in eagle river.

not too excited to touch the fish, but steve convinced her to try it once. she decided she was better off being in charge of the stick...

i will crap my pants when i see a bear while i am outside. wouldn't that be an AWESOME post?!
